Clear the Entryway in December

Posted on December 01, 2011

Last month, the focus was the dining room, for obvious reasons. Now that guests will be dropping in throughout the entire holiday season, it is a must that your entryway be organized and ready. But how?

  1. Make a family drop spot. Always have a drop spot available to set keys, wallets, loose change, personal devices, etc. A really creative idea is to give each family member or guest their very own drop bowl.
  2. To keep your entry or area rugs from taking a beating, you might consider storing them away for the rest of the month.
  3. Provide room for hanging. During the winter, people will be coming into your home with more stuff. Coats, hats, gloves, scarves, umbrellas, bags, etc. Be sure to have hooks, compartments and other storage solutions as soon as they walk into the door. You might even consider a custom closet.

How is your entryway organized for the holiday season?
