5 Things You Don't Need

Keeping your home clutter-free and organized is an on-going process. Even if you have custom closets installed or other storage solutions built to your needs, it’s up to you to keep your rooms and spaces from getting out of control. Take a look around. What are you holding onto that you truly don’t need anymore? Is there anything on this list you kiss goodbye?

CDs and DVDs – If you haven’t made the digital transition yet, it’s time. Using online music libraries like iTunes and Rhapsody make it easier than ever to store your music and movies right on your computer. Just make sure you back everything up in case you ever have technical difficulties and lose your downloads.

Old paperwork – There’s really no need to keep old bills and invoices, especially once they’ve been paid in full. If you’re comfortable with it, go paperless and view/pay everything online to avoid massive heaps of paper all over your office and elsewhere.

Tupperware – Nothing is more annoying than having tons of Tupperware bowls and containers, but not nearly enough lids to match all of them. Do the lids disappear into thin air? We’ll probably never know. Toss any containers that you don’t use as well as those that do not have a proper lid or cover.

Old clothes – Most people get rid of clothes that haven’t been worn anywhere between six months to a year. Go through your closets and drawers and weed out the items you know you won’t be wearing again. And be honest with yourself. Donate your unwanted belongings to a local charity.

Multiple cleaning products – How many cleaning products do you have under your kitchen and bathroom sinks? There’s really no need to have that many. They pretty much all do the trick, don’t they? Once you use up all your current cleansers, try sticking to just one product in the kitchen and one in the bathroom to get things done.
