We talk a lot about the importance of having your closets well organized, but another key factor is the lighting. Proper lighting of a closet allows homeowners to view their articles more clearly or simply adds a little more beauty to the space.
For those of you with large walk-in closets or dressing rooms a well lit closet can be a bit of a challenge. Below are some different ways to light your closet.
- Accent Lighting- Creates a mood and can be used to highlight certain areas in your closet.
- Chandeliers- Offers a more ornate and visually stunning way to light your space.
- Track or Monorail Lighting-A bit more modern, these lighting fixtures can be used to spotlight a hard-to-see area of the closet.
- Wall Scones- When space is available, this type of fixture offers a more finished look to your closet.
- Recessed Lighting- Available in a broad range of styles, these fixtures are perfect for lighting the entire area of the closet. You can also add recessed lights under cabinets and shelves for more direct lighting.
Whatever lighting you choose to use make sure you are in compliance with the strict electrical and safety codes. Twelve percent of house fires start in the closet.
