Closet Lighting

We mentioned in a previous post that lighting is a very important factor in your closets. Improper lighting can not only make it more difficult to differentiate between a dark blue pair of slacks and a black pair, but can also be a fire hazard. We mentioned some of our favorite lighting choices for closets, but we wanted to talk a little about compact fluorescent lights (CFLs).

Compact fluorescent lighting has become very popular within the last several years. As an energy efficient way to light your home, CFLs can save you in money and energy bills. We however don’t recommend using them in your closets. Compact fluorescent lights work best the longer they are left on and their life is reduced with the frequency in which they are turned off and on. If you don't plan on leaving your closet light on for more than 15 minutes each time than we suggest you use another lighting option.
