The Organized Nightstand

Posted on April 05, 2011

One of the most annoying areas of the bedroom is the nightstand that never ceases to collect the most random clutter. And after spending the majority of time cleaning other rooms like the kitchen, bathroom and main living areas, it’s easy to forget that bedrooms need a little TLC as well. Do you need to start fresh with your nightstand?

  1. Clear everything thing off the table and give it a good wipe down with a damp towel and a multipurpose household cleaner.
  2. Have a garbage bag handy. Immediately throw out everything you know you won’t ever need again. This may include old magazines, newspapers, sticky notes, empty snack packages, etc.
  3. Every single item should be relocated to its rightful place. Things like bills or other documents, loads of writing utensils, empty cups and random pieces of candy do not belong in the bedroom.
  4. Look at what’s remaining and decide what you absolutely need on your beside table. A lamp, alarm clock, book, scented candle and a framed family photo are all tolerable. A small notepad and pencil might even be okay for brilliant ideas that may pop up before right you drift off to sleep.
