Tips on Organizing Your Basement

1. Create three piles: keep, donate and toss. If you plan on donating toys and such make sure you schedule a pickup right away, otherwise it can stay in the pile forever.
2. Design a storage system for the room complete with drawers, bins, shelves and cubbies. Everything should have its proper place.
3. Assign all your objects into categories and place them in their corresponding bins. For example books, sporting equipment, toys and board games are all categories.
4. Make sure everything is labeled so it is easily identified.
