Four Tips for Getting Organized

Mike Merritt • Apr 03, 2018

Repair-Home.com shares some good tips that can help you get started with redoing your closets.

1. Open your closet and think about your first impression.

Is there too much stuff inside? Is everything strewn about? Do you have troubles finding items because there is no system to your storing?

2. Purge any items that you have not used for at least a year.

If you want to give an item a second chance, hold onto it for another six months, then let it go.

3. Make a checklist of all the items that should be stored, such as if you’re creating a tool closet or gift closet.

Then find a new home for those items.

4. Sort into three categories.

We’ve said it before and it doesn’t hurt to repeat: items you would like to keep, items that have been "gently used" and can be donated and a trash pile for those items that are either broken or too worn out to be used again.
